What to expect from your massage
Each treatment will begin with a consultation; on the first treatment we will review your health details including medical, emotional and physical issues and identify the areas you would like help with.
On subsequent treatments we will review your progress and make any necessary adjustments or we might address a different issue, it's entirely your decision based on how you feel when you come in.
I will offer homecare advice so that you can reinforce the benefits of your massage between treatments; an oil blend for the bath, an inhalation to clear congestion, a compress to ease a sprain, there are a lot of options for you to employ at home!
Your Aromatherapy massage
After the consultation, appropriate essential oils will be selected for you and mixed into the massage oil and you will have the opportunity to check that you like the aroma.
Your Aromatherapy massage is designed to to maximise the absorption of the oils into your skin and will begin with long smooth strokes(effleurage) to help this to happen and to relax you. I will also use other movements to stimulate, drain and warm depending on your specific requirements.
Aromatherapy massage will have an immediate impact on well being and relaxation but as the oils have a cumulative effect on the body, particularly for physical issues, it is more effective to have a series of treatments.
Your Deep Tissue Massage
I may use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, or forearms during the deep tissue massage. I will ask you to breathe deeply as I work on tense areas. I will also ask for your feedback on pain levels until I have a good idea of your pain threshold! The aim is to work at the level of pleasurable pain which for many is at about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.
After the massage, you may feel some stiffness or soreness, but it should subside within a day or so. Be sure to contact me if you have concerns or if you feel pain after having a massage.
What to expect from your clinical aromatherapy consultation
At the initial consultation (free), we will discuss your medical background, ongoing issues and any specific concerns to determine how aromatherapy can help you. We will look at your diet, exercise and lifestyle to help build up a holistic assessment of your wellness and identify any imbalances. If at the end of this in depth assessment you feel that aromatherapy will help you I will book you in for a treatment.
Treatments are 25 minutes long and will include using oils in the most appropriate way for your ailment, advice on diet, exercise and relaxation if needed and oils to take and use at home; a body lotion, bath blend, oils for a diffuser, face cream etc
